SUMMARY:Every Story Counts: A Week in the Life of Your Public Library
DESCRIPTION:Pacific Grove Public Library invites the community to take part in Every Story Counts\, a statewide initiative led by the California State Library to collect stories\, photos\, and data that show how and why Californians use their public libraries. \n\n\n\nFrom January 25–31\, 2026\, Pacific Grove Public Library will offer a short survey encouraging patrons to tell their library stories and reflect on how library services support their daily lives. Stories from across the state will help demonstrate the vital role libraries play in education\, workforce development\, civic engagement\, and community connection. \n\n\n\n“We all know the value of public libraries and the strong return on investment they provide\,” said Greg Lucas\, California State Librarian. “Every Story Counts will help us create a more complete picture of the extraordinary range of activities that happen in libraries across the state.” \n\n\n\nThroughout the week\, Pacific Grove Public Library will highlight programs and services through photos and stories and encourage patrons to share their own experiences—whether attending storytimes\, using public computers and Wi-Fi\, participating in programs and events\, checking out materials\, accessing digital resources\, or receiving help from knowledgeable staff. \n\n\n\nBeginning January 25\, the survey will be available online at PGPublicLibrary.org and in person at the library using library devices or a paper survey. Each response helps highlight the essential role libraries play in supporting learning\, access to information\, and a strong\, connected community. \n\n\n\nBy sharing their stories\, our community helps us better understand what matters most and ensures libraries continue to grow and evolve to meet local needs.
